Who we are

Te Kura is the education arm of the New Zealand Judiciary, established through a Memorandum of Understanding between the judiciary and the Ministry of Justice | Te Tāhū o te Ture. Our role is to inform and inspire the judiciary and support the development of good judicial skills.

  • We provide judicial education and support for New Zealand judges through seminars and online resources.
  • We manage the delivery of the Pacific Justice Sector Programme, which provides development opportunities and support to judicial officers and court staff from 15 participating Pacific Island nations.

Governing arrangements

Te Kura’s Governing Board—made up of representatives from the judiciary, the legal profession, law schools and the community—is responsible for the overall strategic direction of Te Kura. The Director, supported by a number of education committees, is responsible for the day-to-day administration of Te Kura.
